It was fun, even though if the only things we found were frogs and mosquitoes. The way I remember seeing fireflies as a kids probably isn't the way that they really look. I remember seeing a whole bunch of little sparks glowing off and on in trees, kind of like the trees at Disney World. They are most likely a faint glowing blob that would be almost impossible to see until after you've driven your car through them and they are now an annoying faint glow on your windscreen....

I could never get the hang of Thursdays.

Man, what a busy month! First my son celebrated his eighth birthday, Nessa get pregnant, school starts for me and the kids, tropical storm Fay is just lounging about leaving rain like mad, and then we find out we are having twins! The only bummer about all this is that the twins are possibly high risk because they may be sharing the same sac, monoamniotic or something. What that means is that they can go Ninja on each other and seriously hurt each other or worse. More stress, hurray! Guess nobody ever said it would be easy, just worth it. So in the mean time I have the Church and Chuck Norris Jokes to console me! Anywho, I've got to get my but out to work and see how my helicopter faired through the storm.

AAAHHHHHH!!!!

This has got to be one of the most stressful weeks ever. Tuesday we had a base meeting at work, which we all thought was going to be about recent bickering between a pilot and some of the med crew. The company big wigs where all there including all three of my bosses. They announced that my base was closed and we were all laid off. I thought they were going to say, "just kidding" afterwords but no. We were all put on two weeks notice. My bosses assured me that they were not going to let me go as I was an asset to the company. They gave me a few options, the one I wanted was a 20 minute drive from my house and I didn't have to move again, but it was not a concrete plan yet. So a day of extreme stress ensued. That evening my bosses came back to the base and offered me that position, working on a BK-117 helicopter, being a relief mech for another base and a pay raise. Wow! I went from being laid off to getting a raise in the same day. I was beat!
Well, next step was cleaning out the hanger which included my clutchless Jeep I bought last week. I went to drain the Tranny so I could drop it and guess what... no freaking oil in it! And congratulations you get to but a new transmission... DING DING DING.... NO more Disney Annual Passes for now. Luckily I found a trans shop that is going to rebuild it with parts from a couple transmissions he has laying around. I think I have prayed more these last couple of days than I have in a long time! I know they were answered too! It's a good feeling to know that although not everything works out as perfectly as one might want it, with faith in God it works out...

Key West 06/08

Here is some pics from our recent week in Key West. It was a lot of fun! Robbie finally caught a lizard by himself, Mackenzie got to talk to a few people about her hero, Jimmy Buffett and Nessa finally got to see the Keys. Oh and I worked... kind of. One of the paramedics from work took us on a tour of the island on his boat, that was a blast. It was the kids first time on the ocean. I found Louie's Back Yard, that was kind of cool. The kids did try really hard to get close to the local Iguanas but they are fast little buggers. Anyways enjoy the pics.

-josh

Expedition Everest Challenge

Well, it's official! I started training today for my first 5k race, the Expedition Everest Challenge. Should be a great race, on my 30th birthday too! Just got to get back in top form. Back in March I was probably at the best. Just need to get back up there! Today I did a 5k on the treadmill in 28 minutes. Not sure how good that is, just know it's not too bad. I think I'm going to run 2 days a week for a couple weeks and do FIIT and strength training the other 3 for now, then gradually get my cardio at a good endurance for 3 or more days a week. Anyways, here's a description of the race...

Race through the dark, exotic terrain of Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park on a thrilling 5K trek in the shadows of the Forbidden Mountain. Encounter surprises along the way that may pose as obstacles to you or your team's trek. There will be plenty of clues to lead you or your team on this journey, but only a few will escape the Yeti, known as the abominable snowman! Earn all of the stamps in your Expedition Passport to conquer the challenge!

Our last trip to Disney World

Noah's Glasstron

The story goes like this.... It was dark and stormy, didn't look like it was going to let up either. Just then a voice from the Heavens boomed like thunder.

"You must build a boat," the voice said.

The fat little man looked inquisitively at the sky.

"Just do it," The voice boomed and then went into great detail about the boat, the coming rain and what the voice wanted the man to do.

So the little man built a 19 foot fiberglass motor boat with a 90 horse outboard motor. A great feet, given the fact that neither fiberglass or the stuff needed to build a motor had been invented yet. Then, the rain really started. The little fat man hadn't finished his tasks yet so he panicked. He hurriedly picked up his shaving cream can full of smuggled dinosaur embryos and headed toward the docks. He barely made it after a short struggle with a spitting lizard, after all he was on a mission from God.

The water was rising and the land was disappearing in the distance. The un-seaworthy vessel was springing leaks like a strainer floating in a vat of freshly brewed beer. God's boat was going down, man he's gonna be pissed, the little man thought. And since the Coast Guard was busy fishing the strainer out of the beer vat the boat sunk. Oh, what was the little fat guys name? N, Ne, No, Noa, New, NEWMAN!!! Newman! And that, kids, is why we no longer have dinosaurs.
